Floripa Hostel

The location was really good, and I could get everywhere on foot in about 20 minutes. The shared rooms were spacious, the hostel was cleaned daily, and the kitchen seemed well equipped. From the moment I arrived, I was met with kindness. The receptionist, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch, spoke English and helped me with everything. I had an errand in the city, and she took the time to recommend places for what I needed, from a copy shop to a laundromat.

The fruit flies were everywhere, and no one seemed to care. Morning staff were unfriendly and showed little common courtesy, and there were no hot showers during my two-week stay. Two weeks was far too long. The front desk woman went on daily tirades about food in the fridge and throwing it in the garbage, so new food was routinely tossed out. I stopped buying things to cook. They tell you to label your food, but don't provide labels or pens. A sleazy Brazilian man made constant noise, making a good night's sleep nearly impossible. A long-stay guest also kept smoking marijuana in the room. They say it's a 24-hour hostel, but it felt like a ghost town, with employees who weren't interested in guests. It's the only hostel in the city center, which is too bad.

There weren't many people when I stayed in October, which was nice. The place was very clean, and the staff were helpful. There was a funny smell, but I guess that's because of the island. Breakfast had good fruit, bread, and pastries, though the cheese wasn't that good. I'd definitely book here again.

The beds are comfortable and the showers are good enough. It's an honest place, but the Wi-Fi is really bad and only works in some areas.
