Hotel Monteiro Canasvieiras

The room was clean, and the beach service with chairs, towels, and an umbrella was a plus. Breakfast was okay. But the rooms are incredibly noisy: you hear everything next door, and on weekend nights people play funk loudly in the street until the early hours. It feels like the music is right inside your room.

The location, breakfast, service, and especially the beach service were so good that they more than made up for the downsides. The heated pool with a jacuzzi was a 10/10 too. The rooms are small and cleanliness could be better, and there are lots of cockroaches on the ground floor.

The room had a strong sewage smell, and we had to cover the sinks with plastic to make it more bearable. We also found lots of cockroaches, which really undermined the feeling of cleanliness and comfort. The bathroom is cramped around both the toilet and shower. Breakfast was weak, with little variety and the same things day after day. We noticed other guests complained about it often, and it seems like something that needs work. Cars often stop outside with loud music after 10 pm and stay until early morning. We know that isn’t directly the hotel’s responsibility, but it made it hard to rest. The hotel otherwise feels about right for a three-star place. It’s literally on the beach and close to everything. The room is spacious, and the little kitchen makes daily life easier, with a cooktop, mini fridge, microwave, pots, detergent, and sponge. Housekeeping is daily, the blackout curtain works well, and the hotel provides beach umbrellas, chairs, and towels. The pool is heated, though the area is small and cramped.

There’s no restaurant or bar at the hotel, and guests have to stock the mini fridge themselves. Breakfast was nothing special. We had to change rooms because some maintenance work was still needed. The hotel is across from the sea, rooms are cleaned daily, and towels are changed. They also provide beach towels and an area with hotel umbrellas and chairs. There’s a heated pool, but it’s very small.
