Pousada Atlantico

The rooms we rented were a little dated, but they were very cheap. There are two small pools and both covered and uncovered parking. The dunes and their spectacular beach are just 100 meters from the building, with loads of sand and space to relax. It’s not crowded, which is great since Ingleses is packed and has no beach at all, like an anthill.

The location of Pousada Atlantico I is really good, which makes the decline in its condition so sad. This was my third summer staying here, and things are bad now. The pool is dirty, the Wi-Fi is painfully slow when it works, and the TV only gets one channel, with a poor picture. There’s no housekeeping service or breakfast anymore, the bedding smells musty, and some rooms don’t have a fan. Comfort is lacking. I used to recommend this place, the old Pousada do Laser, all the time.

This apartment complex could be good if it were looked after, which makes its neglected condition a shame. When we arrived, the caretaker opened the door and two cockroaches flew out. There were ants everywhere too. Washing dishes and pots in the kitchen sends water splashing all over the place instead of into the sink. As I said, the place leaves a lot to be desired.

Diego, the receptionist and manager, was attentive and helpful, and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. It’s an affordable family-run hotel with excellent facilities, a few blocks from Santinho Beach and about ten blocks from Praia dos Ingleses. I had a wonderful visit to Florianópolis and stay here. Highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely be back!
