The first problem was the Booking.com charge. We booked through the app, which charged us double without warning: the listing showed $250, but my card was debited $500 without any confirmation. The apartment also smelled dirty, the sheets were stained and didn’t match, and there was no blanket. The bathroom and kitchen had no towels or soap. Those things could be bought, of course, but we paid $4,000 for one night and expected much more. I did appreciate the air conditioning and having a kitchen along with the bedroom and bathroom. Still, the studio wasn’t what we’d agreed to or what the Booking.com photos showed. You can leave your car in the garage, but then you have to climb stairs to get to the studio. I was extremely dissatisfied, especially given the price. The quality didn’t come close, and I could have stayed in a much nicer hotel for that amount.

The owners are friendly when it suits them, but their so-called apartments are unfit to live in and they try to charge a fortune. We were paying 1300 reais one month, then they tried to raise it to 2000 reais for a studio apartment of 2 square meters. The woman is very cunning. We left a box of groceries in the apartment, asked about it, and they acted as if they knew nothing. Terrible. I hope the groceries come in handy for them.

The place didn’t look like the photos. They tried to put five of us in a studio apartment, and we refused, but they didn’t give back the 20,000 peso deposit we’d paid. They treated us very badly after we turned down the studio.

The owners gave excellent service, and the place itself was really nice. I visited four years ago, and I dream of going back.
