Amuarama Hotel

The gardens and peaceful setting are lovely, and there's a nice pool and restaurant. Everything was very clean and well kept, and the staff were friendly. It's close to the airport and directly across from the bus station, with a grocery store about a five-minute walk away. Highly recommend.

I wouldn't stay here again. We ended up here for the night after a flight problem. The rooms are old, and air conditioning and breakfast are about the only reason I'd give the place two stars. The staff were the one bright spot. They checked several people in late, helped carry luggage to the room, and quickly moved us when we found huge ants in the bathroom. Breakfast was available, but we chose not to eat it, though other guests did. The coffee was fine. The workers were helpful, but I hope the owners or someone will improve the property.

The rates are around $50 a night, which seems reasonable. The hotel felt safe, the valet service is free, and the restaurant is excellent. Jodeilson, the restaurant manager, is very friendly and makes sure you're satisfied.

I won't come back. The place smelled awful, like sour grease and garbage, and the shower drain was so slow the bathroom floor flooded. The TV settings weren't right either. The pool area was taken over by people attending an event, so we couldn't use it. The pool restroom was dirty, with feces on the wall by the toilet, and there was mold in the grout at the bottom of the pool. Breakfast was cold and unappetizing. The reception and dining area windows were smudged with fingerprints, and the corridors were still dirty 24 hours after the event ended. Only one person on the day shift seemed willing to help; the rest didn't seem to care, from hotel staff through kitchen personnel. Management seems happy to keep a three-star rating they don't deserve, and will never make it to four.
