At check-in, I was told I had to pay a 10% service fee in advance. That's not right: the fee is optional, and when charged, it's usually paid at checkout depending on the guest's satisfaction. The staff then gave me conflicting information. One person said the fee was compulsory; another said it wasn't and that the amount already collected could be applied to my room charges. I trusted that explanation, but at checkout they refused to deduct it, saying there was no record in the system. I felt misled twice and out of pocket. I stay in hotels frequently and have never been charged a service fee in advance, let alone as a requirement. I also stayed at another hotel in the same city during the same period, and it had no such charge. The issue isn't the amount. It's the lack of transparency, poor internal organization, and what I consider an abusive practice. I don't recommend staying here. Future guests should ask about the fee and refuse to pay it in advance, since it isn't mandatory.
