Pousada Oliveira

We’ll be back again. The pousada suited us really well, and there are several good places to go nearby. Mr. Oliveira was a warm, attentive host. Even when it was 10 degrees, the shower was wonderfully hot, and the location was great.

The service was good, and the rooms are basic but fair for the low price. There’s parking too. Still, I wouldn’t return because the late-night noise made it impossible to have a peaceful stay. I spent four days there in January 2024, and every night I was woken by other guests making a racket in the early hours. There’s a small A4 notice at reception about quiet hours, but it clearly isn’t enough. Guests need to be told and reminded that other people are sleeping, even at 3 a.m.

Really good. Sr. Oliveira was very attentive and polite. I recommend it.

The location works well if you want to be in the city center, though it’s far from the borders. There’s no breakfast, but the shared kitchen is fully equipped, available at any time, and easy enough to use. The room and bathroom were clean, and the service was friendly. Even so, the facilities left a lot to be desired. The TVs were very old and noisy, and the walls are so thin you can hear everything the next guest says or does. The toilet seat lid kept falling onto whoever was using it, which was extremely uncomfortable and felt like penny-pinching. Payment also had to be in cash, or there was a fee to use a card. I booked through an app and only afterward noticed that cancelling would cost me more than 50% of the reservation, which was frustrating given that there are much better, more comfortable options nearby. The listing called this a pousada, but on arrival it turned out to be a pensão, which was my first disappointment.
