Hotel Itajubá

Great.

Really great.

I spent five days at this hotel after traveling from another country for work, and what I found was very different from what the photos and descriptions on Booking and Google Maps had led me to expect. I booked directly through reception and paid in advance via PIX, but the room wasn't fit for basic hygiene, comfort, or safety. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable, especially for a work trip where I needed a reasonable place to rest. There were cockroaches in the room, and it clearly needed urgent pest control. The sheets were dirty, the bed was visibly old and in poor condition, and under it I found toilet paper, old bags, and accumulated dirt. The bathroom was just as bad: dirty, darkened tiles, a clogged sink, and no shower screen door, so water spread across the floor and left it soaked. The worn door took force to close and made an extremely loud noise that could disturb other guests. I reported the problems to reception and asked to change rooms. They said they would only clean it, because “no other guest had complained.” That response felt unprofessional and showed little concern for my well-being. With my work schedule, I got back very late and couldn't find another place to stay, so I remained there despite all the problems. I still haven't received the tax invoice for the stay, even after asking multiple times. Based on what I experienced, I want future guests to know that the pictures and descriptions don't match the reality. I hope this account helps other travelers and prompts the hotel to urgently improve its maintenance, cleaning, and customer service. Photos:

I stayed on Saturday. The room looked clean, but the sheets were dirty and dingy, and there were lots of cockroaches in the hotel. The good part was the receptionist, Sofia. She was so kind, offered to change the sheets, and was polite and determined to do her best for guests. Still, the hotel should call pest control and replace the sheets.
