Casa da Ponte Hotel

Top notch.

The location is very good, but the way I was treated made this a traumatic experience. We were just passing through town and stopped by to ask about staying one night. When I asked to see the accommodations, the receptionist refused in an extremely rude way. There are plenty of ways to say no, and hers was awful. I would have gladly paid for the location, but after such poor service I left and don't plan to return. I hope others decide not to go either.

I arrived in town and asked the receptionist if I could see the room available on the second floor. She flatly refused. I even said I would only look from the doorway, without going in, just to get an idea, but she insisted that guests couldn't see the rooms. So I gave up and found a good pousada elsewhere in town. In all my many trips around Brazil and other countries, I've never had an experience like that.

The breakfast was wonderful, and the women at reception were so attentive. We were warmly welcomed and the service was excellent. The hotel is in a great spot, close to everything, and it's very clean and smells lovely. It has a beautifully maintained colonial style, with gorgeous furniture, art, and plants throughout. My simple ground-floor room had a ceiling fan, but the weather was cool and the room stayed comfortable without it. The room was small, and the shower stall felt cramped, though the clean towels and bedding were good quality. The bed and pillows were comfortable too.
