The check-in felt backwards. I had to fill in my ID and booking details on a link on my phone while staff watched, after they’d left us to haul our suitcases through the front door on our own. At night, light from the hallway came under the door, and the thin walls let in street noise, so the room was bright and noisy when we were trying to sleep. The room itself looked cute, warm, and comfortable, though. There’s a daily “tourist tax,” then at checkout they also try to collect another 250 reais for “worker compensation.” They don’t explain that the extra payment is optional up front, which feels pretty scummy. Just build fair pay into the nightly rate. This is the only hotel we’ve stayed at in Brasil that did this, so it doesn’t seem common or federally required. We’d have been better off at Hotel Alapestro or Refugio, where you get your money’s worth.

The rooms are cozy, and the service was spot on. I’d happily stay here again.
