Pousada Recanto Setiba

A nice spot.

The location is very good, but the inn and the room are only so-so. The mattress was awful and sagged under us, the pillows were terrible, and the very old air conditioner took ages to cool the room. Our bathroom got unbelievably hot, so we came out of the shower sweating. The pool water was cloudy, and the bathroom by that area was so dirty it was unusable. Breakfast was pretty poor. I only stayed there because it was the only place I could find.

The couple looking after the inn were friendly and thoughtful with us, which made for a pleasant stay. The place is simple but cozy, with a pool and barbecue area. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh cakes and plenty of care in how it was prepared.

The room had leaks, which hurt our comfort and made it seem like maintenance was lacking. The breakfast was simple but acceptable, and the woman serving there was exceptionally polite, attentive, and professional. Her care made a real difference and deserves praise. Sadly, our stay at Recanto Setiba was disappointing in several ways. The man working there was very rude and unhelpful, often answering guests sharply and making the atmosphere uncomfortable. Seeing him lying on the sofa in his socks also came across as unprofessional and out of place for a lodging setting. It gave me the impression that he brought personal problems to work and took his bad mood out on customers. The place has potential, but his attitude and the structural problems badly affected the experience.
