The kids had plenty to do, including mini golf, a kids’ club, and a pool with a water park feel. The food was very good, and the decor and bar are lovely. The setting is beautiful, right on the beach, with great pools, a spa, and an indoor pool. Breakfast and dinner had a good selection. Food prices are steep, especially lunch at the café. It’s expensive for locals, though off-season rates seemed reasonable for tourists. Check for the weekly low-season deal with breakfast and dinner included. There was construction on the grounds, with loud jackhammering during the day. Since it was off season, that was somewhat understandable.

The hotel is far too expensive for what you get. The food was good, but nothing special for a five-star place, and the service was generally friendly while also being good at ignoring problems. The rooms are quite old, and the windows don’t close properly. Trying to rest during the week was impossible when a large group held a party. They had a band playing well past 1 a.m. on a weekday, and it felt like the hotel cared more about the bigger group’s money than its individual guests. That’s why I’m giving one star.

We spent a day at the beach club, and left disappointed. Day guests have to spend at least R$ 200 per person on food and drinks. Chairs, towels, and an umbrella were included for us, though they advertise sun beds. The place was clean, with showers, pleasant lounge music, and a DJ in the late afternoon. Prices for food and drinks are high. The Aperol was excellent, but the R$64 nachos were a joke for both portion size and quality. We waited over an hour for our first drinks because a waiter forgot the order, and nobody even apologized for the long delay. The staff were friendly, but didn’t seem well trained. It’s the kind of disappointing gap between high prices and value for money that we run into a lot in Brazil.

Dinner was excellent, but breakfast was only okay, with very oily omelets and tapiocas made ahead. Lunch by the pool was expensive and disappointing. If you pay for meals when booking, your choices shrink to a few dishes at one restaurant, so I wouldn’t recommend doing that here. The property looks impressive and the beach view is beautiful, but the details don’t meet what I’d expect from a five-star hotel. They seem short-staffed, some employees appear inexperienced, and even simple things take a long time. Compared with other five-star hotels, it’s too expensive for the limited service. I wouldn’t recommend it, and think it should be classified as four stars.
