The rooms and bathrooms are basic, but clean, and coffee is available in the morning. The staff weren't smiling, and I hadn't been sent information about getting in. The surrounding area seemed sketchy.

I spoke 0% Portuguese and was welcomed wonderfully. Each person has a private room with a lock, there's a general area and a large shared lounge, and the building even has a smoking area. The fish tanks are beautiful, with frogs and turtles as well as fish. It was the most welcoming, hospitable place I found for only ~15$ a night. The place was extremely clean and organized, almost so much that I felt bad making a mess. It's a simple but cozy room, with a fully equipped kitchen and coffee, tea, bread, and cookies available all day. The staff are very polite and helpful. A great option to save money near Guarulhos Airport during a layover, if you aren't picky about where you stay.

For a 1 AM arrival, it was a great place to catch a few ZZZZ. It's a convenient 15 minute Uber ride away. They text you the entry lock code the day before and leave your room key in the door. They even left a couple of rolls, and there was coffee in the morning. Checkout was 12 noon. I slept well, though I was excited to arrive in Brazil and got up by 9. The neighborhood felt safe, so I walked to the airport to get my car for the next night. It took 1 hour on busted-up sidewalks, though they were fixing them.
