Hotel Cumbica

I’ve been staying here for almost a month because I came a long way for work and need rest, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to even my worst enemy. It’s almost impossible to sleep: there’s a lot of noise, especially from employees laughing and talking through much of the night, particularly on weekends. Cockroaches infest the room, walk across the bed, and keep me awake. I haven’t changed hotels because I’m about to leave for Paraná. The place is awful, and only one staff member is friendly; the others slam the door in guests’ faces.

The room itself was clean, and the staff were really friendly. They even found me a hair dryer when I asked. The main issue was the location on a very busy avenue, which made it noisy. The bathroom had no shower enclosure, just an open area where water could get everywhere, and there was only one outlet in the room.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, the bedding was dingy, and the place was very noisy. Honestly, it felt more like a low end motel than a proper hotel. I don’t recommend it.

The listing on Booking said the hotel was near the airport, but it’s actually farther away, in an area that didn’t feel safe. From the moment we arrived, the stay was unpleasant. It’s basically a narrow corridor with tiny rooms, much smaller than they look in the photos, and the space felt claustrophobic. Both the corridors and rooms reeked of cigarettes, and the bedding smelled sweaty, as if it hadn’t been washed. The blanket was dirty, smelled heavily used, and even had a piece of toilet paper stuck to it, so I couldn’t sleep with it. Noise was constant from every direction. You could hear conversations, laughter, and loud music in the corridors all night, along with cars and motorcycles from the busy avenue outside. The place also seems to operate as a motel, and overnight we heard screams, moans, and other embarrassing sounds from other rooms. The reception staff were rude and unwelcoming, and the towels were stained and looked dirty and poorly cared for. This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. I absolutely don’t recommend it.
