The location was great, with restaurants nearby, and the wifi was strong. Our room was clean and felt safe. The tours we booked ourselves could pick us up because the hotel was in their designated pickup area. The place was nice enough for the affordable price, but the WhatsApp only setup was frustrating. We had to use it for everything instead of going to reception, and when we checked out we couldn’t find anyone, so we had to hide the key. WhatsApp was useful when there was a problem with our room, though. They switched us to another room, which we appreciated. The bathroom sign said rooms would be cleaned daily, but our trash wasn’t emptied during the three nights we stayed.

The location is pretty good, with nice bars and restaurants close by. Zepelín bar, Samambaia and Patío across the road are all worth trying as a treat. The place did the job, and we had no major complaints during our two nights a few weeks ago, but it felt like a shell of its former self and needs renovations. Maybe it was low season, but it was like a ghost town. We didn’t see another guest, and there was only self check in, with no reception or staff around. We got instructions by message, but if staff aren’t going to be there, the WhatsApp messages should at least feel warmer and more welcoming. The place seemed a bit like it had been given up on.

The beds were comfortable, everything was very clean, the bathrooms stayed tidy and the dorm AC worked well. There’s a nice outdoor area with a pool, great wifi, a fridge for groceries and a kitchen for cooking. A huge supermarket is just around the corner, and plenty of restaurants open on the main street nearby in the evenings. The outside bar was never open. Still, having no reception or anyone around to ask things was a real problem. The few other guests I met and I wanted advice about getting to Iguaçu falls, nearby restaurants and what might be open on the public holiday when I arrived. We were sent to a WhatsApp number, where replies were very limited, and I don’t know who I was speaking with. The place could be great and have a lively, social atmosphere if it were managed better. I really think it needs reception. During my visit there were almost no guests, and it felt like its best days were past. As a solo traveler, I found it a social nightmare, met nobody, and left a day early.

The room was nice, and we had a private one. The outdoor area was nice too, and the location is awesome. But the hostel didn’t match what was promised. We stayed five days, and the toilet paper bin wasn’t changed once, even though the bathroom door said it was cleaned every day and to text them for any extra attention. Signs around the hotel advertised a free caipirinha every day at 8:30, or “caipirinha o’clock,” but it never happened. I messaged the owner to give them a chance to explain, in case they were sick, but got no reply. That’s why I lowered my rating from three stars to two. I might change it if they respond.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the pool was nice. It was dirty when I stayed because of a party the day before, and it hadn’t been cleaned even though we asked. The hotel is a few miles from the border.
