The rooms and bathrooms are roomy, and my towels were very clean. The outdoor shared space was a lovely place to relax among the plants and tables. Pousada dos Gatos is also very central and walkable, close to restaurants, shops, and the airport. Dona Claudia, a warm Chilean woman, runs this charming, quirky guesthouse and gives it a cozy, homey feel. As the name suggests, cats are everywhere, well cared for and reflected in fun cat-themed touches. Cat lovers and anyone who likes places with personality will probably enjoy it. It's good value, but don't expect a luxury stay. The property feels worn and could use repairs and a deeper clean, and there's a faint litter smell in some areas because of the cats. It has lots of charm, just a slightly worn guesthouse feel rather than a polished hotel.

The staff were really nice, and the location was great, close to the Sunday market as well as good restaurants and bars. My room was basic and old, though clean, and it had a fridge. I missed having a window and fresh air. Still, for that price, it was a very good deal.

I felt safe here, and the street was fairly quiet. The other guests were respectful, and the staff were great. As an American visiting Brazil without speaking Portuguese and knowing very little about the country, I found the place clean, nice, and neat. I'd absolutely recommend it to other foreign travelers.

The shared spaces really impressed me, and the neighborhood felt very safe and lively to explore. I felt welcome right away. The hosts offer a short ride to GRU, with airport pickup and drop-off available for a small fee. At check-in there are snacks, and there's a secure place to leave your bags if you want to explore after checkout. Each room has its own character and creative design, though I happened to see that some are nicer than others. A small suggestion: all the rooms could use the same level of maintenance. I loved my stay here.

As a US citizen visiting Brazil, I found this a very good place if you're traveling with cats and need somewhere safe for them while you're away. It's close to the airport, and they arrange scheduled rides to and from it at a fair price. They also seem to care about people as people, not just as customers.
