Hostel MPB

I stayed for about 10 days. Things were good at first, but during the last few days he became angry and tense, and I couldn't relax. In the first days after I arrived, he messaged me every hour asking for a review on Booking, and whenever he saw me he asked me to leave a good one. I usually don't write negative reviews, but felt I had to. I think this is a common problem: he shouted at me three times in front of other guests and said something. I think he needs to be calmer. The hostel rooms are small, there was no soap in the toilets while I was there, the shower water was insufficient, and the kitchen is a bit small. I think you can find better places on the island for less.

The common area was quite nice, but we didn't use the kitchen because it didn't look appealing. The owner was very nice, though we had to call her for check-in, and meanwhile the whole hostel was accessible to anyone. The six-person rooms are too cramped, with backpacks all over the floor. One night a roommate got locked in the bathroom when the handle broke off from the inside. He had to climb out the window, about two meters up. The air conditioning was extremely loud and freezing, and the hostel felt dingy. The pillows were stained and smelly. We suspect bed bugs because we woke up with matching bites. I don't know where the good reviews come from.

Sol is so kind and welcomes you like family. The hostel is basic but really cozy, and it's perfectly clean. The rooms are a bit too small, though, and when they're full it's hard to fit all the backpacks. Breakfast would have made the stay complete. Still, I'd definitely recommend it!

The owner is friendly, and the location is good. Just be aware that the common area can't be used after 10pm.
