Pousada Cavalo Marinho

Loved it!

The location and staff were fine, but the room was badly neglected. The air conditioner was old and dirty, and the double room had a double bed plus a single bed that really wasn’t suitable for an adult. There were two of us, both women. On top of that, water kept coming back up in the bathroom and wouldn’t stop, the shower didn’t work, and on the last day even the toilet wouldn’t flush. It was disappointing. The staff were willing to try to help, but this is a maintenance issue that needs attention so guests don’t have such a bad experience.

We stayed at Pousada Cavalo Marinho from 26/01 to 29/01 and felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Our boat schedule meant we got there before check-in, but Leandro was attentive and professional. He let us leave our bags and gave us helpful information about the island. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and tasty, with a good range of fruit, juice, cakes, bread, cold cuts, eggs, and cereal. The accommodation suited our needs well. On departure day, our boat wasn’t until 17:30, and the pousada again let us leave our luggage and use the shower and bathroom. That made it possible to enjoy the island right up to the end. Warm service and a friendly team, we’d love to return. Recommended!

Sol and Paula were especially kind, polite, and helpful. The service was impeccable, and they made us feel at home. Breakfast was wonderful too, everything fresh, with eggs cooked to order by the team. The reason I can’t give five stars is the room and bathroom setup, along with the location of the annex. Our room had a bit of mould from the humidity, and the shower sprayed water everywhere, leaving the toilet wet. The Booking description didn’t say it was an annex; we only found out on arrival. It’s about a three-minute walk away, and you have to cross another property’s yard to get there. We also had to go over to the pousada for breakfast and drinking water, which was a little uncomfortable.
