Pousada Nalu

I booked the trip in September for February, but on the first day we were told we'd only get to stay in room 5 that one night. It smelled of sewage so badly that we woke up to the odor during the night. On day two, they put us in room 2, where we had to kill ten cockroaches over three days. For all those days, the owner wouldn't solve the problem or move us again. She said there was nothing she could do, or she could refund us, but during Carnival I wouldn't have been able to find another place to stay. Only on the last day did she move us to another pousada owned by the same partner. We spent four days in an unsanitary pousada, in terrible rooms with ten cockroaches, and all they offered by way of apology was a complimentary dinner. The TV in room 5 didn't work because it had no power cable. Breakfast was poor, with fruit left out for insects to land on. The owner showed no initiative or interest in fixing anything.

The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom window opened into the bedroom, and the smell was awful. The minibar was in terrible condition, and the television was fake. There was no generator. One day we ate stale bread, and they served the same cake on two days.

The location is good, and some of the facilities are nice, but my room was one of the poor ones. There was no TV or air conditioning, and the water pressure was very weak. Breakfast was okay, and the service was decent when someone was around to help. For the price, I can't say the stay was that bad, but I wouldn't come back.

We felt at home here. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had good mattresses. Breakfast is served in the shared kitchen and dining space, which has a cheerful, cozy feel.
