Pousada Recanto das Flores

I had a terrible stay at Recanto de Flores Lofts, and I can’t recommend it. We paid 6,000 reais for five nights and ended up dealing with frustration and a lot of inconvenience. I’m asking for a full or partial refund, or I’ll file a lawsuit. My reservation through Booking.com was cancelled because their card machine wouldn’t accept the payment. When we arrived, my partner paid by direct online bank transfer instead, using neither the machine nor my registered card. I’ve used Booking.com in 13 other countries without any problem. The main issue was privacy. We had declined room service and asked the hostess and her companions not to come into our room, but they were rude and aggressive when we made that request. They insisted on entering while we were out, apparently to snoop. The hostess called the police to try to get us evicted. The officers were courteous and sided with us, asking them not to enter again. We stayed because we thought they would follow that request. The hosts were insulting and rude, and very strict about electricity, even though we always turned things off when we knew to. The power went out at least 12 times. Sometimes we had to ask them to turn the AC back on, and on our last day and night it didn’t work at all, apart from a flickering light. There was a generator, but the owner only switched it on when she thought it was necessary, including after other guests complained about the outages. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable throughout our stay. The bed wasn’t a proper double, just two halves pushed together, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The tap water was yellowish, unlike at another guesthouse where we stayed. There was enough furniture in the kitchen, but no working stove or electric pan, so cooking wasn’t possible. The dirt roads, dust and mud on the way there didn’t make the effort worthwhile.

There was lots of wildlife around the beautiful property, and from our room we could hear nature instead of the centre. The hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming, the rooms were spotless, and the AC was great. I’d recommend staying here without hesitation.

The garden was lovely, with birds stopping by, and the whole place felt beautiful and peaceful. The owners were friendly and always ready to help. I’d stay again next time.

Naira was always there with a smile whenever we needed something. The place is near the centre but still quiet, with a lovely garden full of different birds. Our bedroom was excellent, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom really clean. There was also a kitchenette with a fridge, a shared laundry sink and a filtered water dispenser. A perfect spot for a holiday.
