It’s easy to head out for dinner from this pousada since it’s right in the center of Vila do Abraão. There’s a small pool tucked into a pleasant garden, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and roomy, though quite plain, with no balcony or view. Breakfast is included and good, and the price feels fair.

Eric at reception was refreshingly honest and welcoming when we arrived. He gave us a good sense of what to expect on the island, where to eat, and what to steer clear of. The hotel is in a great spot on the main street, facing the beach, and has a pool, sauna, games area, and computers with faster internet than the Wi-Fi. Breakfast was good, though it was the same each morning. Our room was simple but clean, with Wi-Fi, AC, hot water, towels, and a mini fridge. One morning, I was sick and got woken by loud screeching from the room above for nearly two hours. It sounded like people packing to leave and then the cleaners. The manager apologized sincerely and asked me to contact her directly if it happened again the next morning. I’d suggest booking a top-floor room. We booked at the last minute during the busy holiday season and paid more than we’d planned, but understood the circumstances. I strongly recommend staying here.

Such a lovely place, especially for couples looking for somewhere quiet. The pool and breakfast were highlights, and breakfast comes with a great view. The place was clean, the people were friendly, and reception was so welcoming. We’ll come back to Recreio da Praia someday!
