The manager was friendly, but the service didn’t come close to being worth the €54 a night we paid. Our room was fairly large and had air conditioning, though there was nowhere to store things. We didn’t hear street noise, but the air conditioner was a little loud. After booking four nights, we got a message on Booking.com when we arrived saying check-in was at another location, Bera do Mar, 90 meters away. There’s no reception or kitchen on site. Bera do Mar does have a kitchen, but it’s poorly equipped, and utensils seem to vanish into the hotel restaurant’s kitchen when you need them. The room also smelled strongly of cleaning product when we arrived, enough to irritate our noses, so we had to throw away a tablet that was in the sink.

A terrible stay. I booked directly, so unfortunately I couldn’t leave a review through Booking.com. The cleanliness, bed, bathroom, restocking, and breakfast were all awful. This pousada is part of the OBJETIVA network, and I hold them responsible. When we arrived, no one was there to check us in. I had to ask around on the street before someone told me to go to another hotel in the network, hotel beira mar. Nobody had told me this beforehand. There was a dreadful staircase there, even though I’d already said we’d be traveling with elderly people and needed accessible rooms. That was also where I learned that breakfast was served somewhere separate from the rooms. Our room was awful and nothing like the photos. There was dirt on the bed and floor, the bed wasn’t made, and the mattress cover was rotten, that’s the word for it. The floor was covered in sand, as if the previous guests had just left and nobody had cleaned. I complained and a young man came to clean, but did a very poor job before we went in. There was nowhere to put luggage or clothes, so bags had to stay on the floor. The TV didn’t work, and the blanket was filthy, sweaty, and had an unbearably foul smell. The power went out every day when the market downstairs closed. Breakfast was extremely basic. The same ham was served every day. One day I arrived to find it spoiled, with dried slime on the edges, apparently left out and served again the next day. Everything was uncovered with flies landing on it. The woman in the kitchen was also very rude. When I asked anything, she wouldn’t even look at people. Breakfast was on the third floor of a different building from where we slept, despite my saying we were with elderly people. The furniture was broken, there was no security, and the door to the street was left open because there was no reception. This place should be shut down. It was a dreadful experience, I won’t return or recommend it. Don’t book with them.

The location is the only thing it has going for it. I don’t recommend staying here. When I arrived, there was nobody at reception to check me in. Luckily, another guest told me I had to go to a different pousada to find the staff. I had to leave, go there, say I’d arrived, and collect the keys. Breakfast was at that other pousada too. I thought the whole thing was terrible and wouldn’t come back.

The suites are good, all with balconies, and the location is perfect. The room was comfortable, and Carol at reception was so sweet, friendly, and helpful. A young guy also came by every day at 10:30 to tidy everything up. I was on the island with 13 people, arriving on 19/05 and leaving on 21/05. One thing needs improvement: we got an email asking what we wanted included in breakfast, but none of our requests showed up, and there wasn’t much variety. If they aren’t going to follow up on that email, they shouldn’t send it and raise guests’ expectations for no reason.

The room was clean and had air conditioning, and the breakfast was wonderful. The building itself doesn’t look very good, though. For Abraão, the value is decent. It isn’t cheap, but maybe the only cheaper option is camping.
