Kalango Hotel Boutique

We’ll be coming back on our next Brazil trip. The beaches were beautiful, getting around by car was quick, and there were tours every day. We also loved the pool, with a cafe and bar beside it and a massage area. Our room was really lovely, and dinner on the terrace was a treat. The glasses-wearing receptionist spoke pretty good English, showed us around the whole place, and was great to chat with. Best stay of our vacation!

The pool was a highlight, with two little bridges you can swim under, whirlpools at both ends, and clean, warm water. The loungers looked odd but were surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was simple, fresh and delicious, and I could ask for espresso; I also loved the cleansing juice. Everyone was friendly and attentive. We arrived late but got a warm welcome in English and were shown to our room. The pool bar and breakfast staff didn't speak English, which is very typical and wasn't a problem at all. They were happy to help. We had one of the three rooms with a tub on the balcony. The balconies face the pool, but ours was at the far end, and we felt comfortable using it without feeling watched. The room was clean and fresh, and well maintained for a hotel of this standard. The bathroom showed a little wear, nothing too bad, and we never heard our neighbors through the walls. The TV was annoying: no cable, just Android TV with someone else's Netflix account. We weren't there to watch TV, though. It's about a 15-minute walk to the beaches, an easy and safe route, though watch out for speeding cars since there's not much sidewalk. Staff can call a taxi if needed. We had a wonderful stay and thought the value for money was excellent. Some reviewers seem to be trying to review bomb the place, and I think their complaints are unjust. We'll be back.

The staff were all friendly, even though most couldn't speak a word of English. I guess the island doesn't get many tourists from overseas. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and our clean room had a balcony or terrace. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, tucked in the jungle but still close to the beaches. Definitely coming back!

Such a beautiful setting, and native birds to watch over breakfast. The bed was fantastic, and the shower was the best, with loads of water pressure.
