Jardim Atlântico Beach Resort

The beach here is beautiful, with soft white sand and stunning water, and the hotel has its own entrance. We spent a week at Jardim Atlantico, and it was a wonderful holiday. The luxury room was comfortable and clean, with a private garden and hammock that was lovely in the early morning or while listening to the rain. Rain seems to pass quickly here, with sunshine coming back soon after. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and there were plenty of them around, ready to make things easier. Breakfast was a real treat, with lots of variety and warm local dishes made to order. Friendly local birds often fly around, hoping to grab a crumb or leftover fruit. We enjoyed the lunch menu too, with local dishes brought wherever you happen to be, and all the fruit juices were amazing. Dinner was beautiful as well. My one disappointment was the drinks. The cocktail maker didn't seem well trained, and every cocktail I tried was far too strong, without the balanced flavors and smoothness I wanted. The wine list was disappointing too, with quite a few wines unavailable, and the best red on the night wasn't to my taste. They are open to suggestions and do try to add guests' recommendations. Everything else was so good that it didn't really bother me. In good company, even juice makes a party. Check their site for more information. I can't wait to come back. The rooms have a rustic feel, but the showers are nice and the common areas are good. There are lots of pools, access to the beach, and shaded areas for kids. The beach in front of the resort is great, and Ilheus beaches are wonderful. It's a great place with kids. Service in northern Brazil is really bad, but here it was above average. The food was great, and the restaurant is the third best in the city.

The pools and recreation areas were fantastic, and we spent most of our time at the resort without getting bored. The activity team, tio Dan, tio Cabrito, tia Pudim, tio Eder, and everyone else were amazing. There were games, poolside dancing, and trivia with prizes. We could easily have stayed more than six days, and I'd recommend the place. We did have some problems with the room. Our toilet was clogged, and since it couldn't be fixed, we had to move to another room at midnight just for the night. The handling of it felt very strange. The rooms were also moldy, though they cleaned the ceiling and walls after we raised it. We weren't offered any compensation for the trouble. The food was expensive and portions weren't very large.

We came for a friends' birthday weekend with the kids and liked it so much we extended our stay through the end of next week. The price was seriously good for a full week of eating in, drinks, room service, and the minibar. At some all-inclusive resorts, that would only cover two or three days. Definitely recommend it. The staff were excellent from day one, polite, attentive, and professional. Junior was our favorite host and made the stay even better. Kids' entertainers are available all day, every day, for all ages. You can leave the children with them while you enjoy a cold drink at the pool bar, or head to the beach for a coconut and the sound of the waves. The only thing they didn't offer was a babysitter, which matters when you have a five-month-old. The food was amazing, reasonably priced compared with other resorts, well prepared every time, and served quickly. The longest wait was about 15-20mins for a moqueca, and we had snacks while waiting. There's a nice variety: breakfast has staples like eggs, omeletes, and bread, while other freshly made items change daily. The restaurant menu is Italian with Brazilian flavors, along with local fish, moqueca, and seafood dishes. They also have vegan food, and the vegan Moqueca is to die for. Rooms are clean, air conditioned, and cared for, with what you need. They're simple rather than stylish, and some are near a noisy street, but you can usually request another room since the resort is rarely full. No complaints from us.
