I stayed at Posseidon a year ago and thought the rates were better then, maybe around $180 Real with breakfast. At that price, the hotel made sense. I’d left a positive review, but have since taken it down. Ibis Hotel, a block away, and Sleep Inn Hotel, also well located, cost about $200 Real per person per night with breakfast, while Posseidon is $250. Posseidon’s outdoor parking is cramped and getting in and out of the area is harder; Sleep Inn Hotel has a huge parking lot. When I stopped by Posseidon the other night to check in, the front desk worker had me wait about 15 minutes while he checked in a group of men who arrived after me. Maybe he thought serving me afterward would be quicker, but I was disappointed with the service. I went to Sleep Inn Hotel instead and had a great stay.

The mattress was very comfortable, at least. We were quoted one rate when we booked by phone, then charged quite a bit more at checkout, so be careful. The hotel is old and badly run down, breakfast wasn’t very good, the room smelled musty and the carpets were very worn. The place almost looks abandoned.

We had a great stay as a family, and I’m grateful to my in-laws for booking us a room. Ours was clean and spacious, with a king bed, a combination that may be hard to find in Imperatriz. The cedar cabinet in the room gave the interior a 1970s feel. Poseidon is a classic hotel in a convenient spot in the busy city center, near Santa Monica and Sao Rafael hospitals, with plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and traditional brick-and-mortar shops nearby.

It’s a nice place to rest, and the breakfast is very good. Just don’t count on the pool, it isn’t clean.
