The apartment we stayed in was a flat, and unfortunately the room had a strong musty smell and trouble with the toilet. I know that may have been an isolated case, but it was unpleasant. The setting itself is beautiful, with a private path to Muro Alto beach, a pool and heated hot tubs. It’s a nice place for families, and the location is handy: Porto de Galinhas is 7 km away, the Maracaipe coconut grove is 4 km, and Pontal do Cupe is 2 km. Pontal do Cupe was easily the best beach in the area, and you can see and swim with fish there without going all the way to Maragogi, which is 55 km from Porto de Galinhas in Alagoas. Maragogi is still well worth a visit for the arrecade and Caminho de Moisés. Around there, the ponta a ponta buggy trip is worthwhile, along with Burgalhau, Antunes and Praia da Bruna. In Porto de Galinhas, don’t miss Ilha de Santo Aleixo, which is paradise, or Praia dos Carneiros with its little church, the mud bath, sandbank and Guadalupe reef. The scenery is breathtaking, and photos and videos really don’t do it justice. Guadalupe and Carneiros are 52 km from Porto de Galinhas. If you rent a car, the drive to these places is easy and there’s parking. Tours are more convenient, but I don’t think you need to book one. Once you step onto the sand, people offer boat rides, jet skis and other trips, sometimes for less than tours leaving from Porto de Galinhas. The excursions include buggy rides, quad bikes, jet skis and diving, and you don’t need to know how to swim for the dive. The tour staff accompany you and are all very friendly and polite. The trip is well worth it. On Ilha de Santo Aleixo, there are squirrels that come down from the trees to take pieces of coconut from your hand. That’s really fun.
