Pousada Sossego Suites

I was moved here from another inn in the group because they said this one had better conditions. The only good part of my stay was Verônica, who was very helpful. I stayed six days because I’d already paid, and the room was cleaned just once, after I asked. It was dirty, the window was badly damaged, and the bathroom shower door was broken. Turning on the shower tripped the breaker and left the water cold. The toilet tank wouldn’t fill, so I had to pour water from a bucket kept in the bathroom. For the last three days, there was no milk at breakfast because the thermos had broken.

Verônica was the one person keeping things going. She was very helpful and would connect the TV channels, reset the breaker, and fix the toilet as best she could. The beds were comfortable, at least ours were, and breakfast was good, though there wasn’t much variety. But the inn is poorly equipped and urgently needs renovation. Doors and windows stick, the sink tap moves when you turn it, and the flush is extremely hard to press. The shower drips constantly and kept me awake; its control is so stiff it feels like it might come off. The water can suddenly turn cold when the breaker trips. The TV controls don’t work well for finding channels, and the A/C makes an irritating amount of noise. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We weren’t looking for luxury, just a simple, clean place that worked, with a decent breakfast. Instead, this was a terrible experience. The photos online didn’t match what we found, and the name “Sossego” didn’t fit our stay at all. The physical condition was awful, the rooms smelled bad, the sheets were stained, and the bathroom toilet didn’t work. Its supposed “window” looked like one in a prison. Doors and windows wouldn’t close properly, making the room feel unsafe and letting mosquitoes in. Breakfast was poor, with very few choices, so the next morning we had to find a bakery to get a proper meal. They moved our things to another room without telling us or getting permission, and left some of our belongings behind, including shoes, sandals, cosmetics, clothes, and a watch. Another couple was already in that room, which was extremely embarrassing. The pool was green and unusable because it hadn’t been maintained. In the adjoining room, only one area had A/C. When we asked for a fan, they gave us a broken one without its front guard, so we couldn’t safely use it. There was no TV, and the minibar didn’t work. Then the water supply was cut off by the service company. We checked with neighbors and found that only the inn had no water, very likely because the bill hadn’t been paid. After about 18 hours without it returning, they offered to move us to another property owned by the same people. The rooms at Pousada La Villa Delle Rose smelled terribly of mold and had other problems, so we had to find somewhere else ourselves to avoid ruining our vacation. All of this happened in under 48 hours. We saw at least five other families making similar complaints, and they also left before their stays ended. I don’t recommend this place.

We booked through 123 Milhas and stayed in the quiet upstairs suite 10. It had a double bed and two single beds. The location is about 5 km from the center of Porto de Galinhas and 3 km from Praia de Cupe. With a rental car or Uber, the distance isn’t a problem, and the center of Porto de Galinhas is noisy and busy. The 32-inch TV and new air conditioner both worked well, and breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate. Dona Miriam was the highlight: always cheerful and attentive, and a lovely person. Verônica was also very good, and both of them try to make up for the inn’s shortcomings. The pool is very nice, but its waterfall doesn’t work, and there are loose stones around it, so watch out for children. The pool and the service from Dona Miriam and Verônica were good, but the property needs a lot of improvement. During torrential rain, several leaks came through, and water got in through the windows because they have no glass, even with the shutters closed. The bathroom shower enclosure was coming apart, with aluminum strips from the bottom tracks that could cut your feet. The pool table also urgently needs repair and can’t be used properly. I’d seen the reviews and tried to switch through 123 Milhas, but they didn’t answer my email. Their communication was awful: WhatsApp takes hours, then they say the case is closed due to lack of communication, which is a joke. The owner seems not to care about customer reviews. I don’t recommend this inn, and 123 Milhas should urgently reconsider including it in packages.
