I never wrote about my stay here before, but now that I’m going back to Brazil, I think I should. The hotel refused to reimburse me after what happened. I went to Itacaré for 12 days in March 2024 with a friend and stayed at this pousada. We felt comfortable and extended our stay by a few days, to 10 days. My friend had to leave before me, so I ended up alone in the room. The hotel was empty except for me that quiet day. Our ground-floor room wasn’t closed because my friend had left while I was asleep. We trusted the staff and thought security was good. I woke up almost naked in bed to find the receptionist standing between the two glass doors, about 40 cm from me. He asked to get into bed with me. I was frightened but stayed calm and grabbed my phone to call my friend. He said, “Your friend is already on the bus anyway.” I’ve never been so scared in my life. Luckily, I had other friends in the village, so I started calling them. He said he wanted to kiss a French girl. I calmly asked him to wait for me at reception while I was still half asleep, and called everyone I knew in Itacaré. He agreed to wait by the entrance. I ran to the bathroom, locked myself in, and waited for my friend to come get me and all my things. Afterward, the hotel refused to refund me. I spent months fighting with Booking to get the two original nights I’d booked through the app reimbursed. I’m not even sure they fired the person who did this to me. At first I didn’t want to post because it isn’t fair to the rest of the staff, but honestly, young women should avoid this hotel, especially if travelling alone.
