Pousada Nossa Senhora

I keep coming back whenever I visit Penedo with my family. We spent almost 10 days here just this April, so I know the place from more than one quick stay. The hosts are warm and welcoming, and make it easy to feel at home. There’s a lovely family feel to the pousada, with animals around the grounds. The infinity pool has a fantastic view, and the shared fridge is handy: just take what you want and settle up at checkout. The chalets are well equipped, with a mini fridge, stove, and pans, so you’ve got what you need to feel at home. And that view is stunning. I recommend it without hesitation.

We had already set off, my wife and I, when the pousada canceled our reservation without our agreement. We had to stop on the road in Seropédica, contact Booking, and find another pousada. The property refused to let us pay at check-in and told me to “seek my rights.” This started after I booked through Booking with a valid credit card. The pousada marked it invalid and demanded payment through a link sent on WhatsApp. They wouldn’t send the link within the platform either, which made me worry it could be fraud. The irony is that I had to arrange the cancellation through Booking, because the reservation said it was non-refundable and the registered card could still be charged. That was the same card the pousada had called invalid. Be clear and honest about reservations: say if a credit card isn’t required or accepted, explain that payment happens outside the platform, and make clear that you may cancel even when nobody else is there to take the room. This was completely absurd.

A quiet, peaceful spot with good value for the price. There’s a garden, a soccer field, and nice pools for adults, including an infinity edge, as well as pools for children.
