The noise from the cooling and ventilation equipment right below the windows was the worst part. Even with the windows shut and earplugs in, I could hear it clearly. With the window open for fresh air, it was louder than heavy traffic, so sleeping that way was nearly impossible. I’m here for a business trip and still have another week and a half to stay. After three days, I already regret booking this hotel. The room also had no complimentary water when I arrived, just drinks for sale in the minibar. Its fridge keeps leaking, and the air conditioning is hard to set: it’s either freezing or off. The hotel offered alternative rooms on the fifth floor, which I appreciated, but I turned them down after seeing mold in both. Communication at reception has been difficult because hardly anyone speaks English. We have to translate everything on a phone, including my replies. I’ve never had to do that in a hotel before. At checkout, they asked through a translator what I’d taken from the minibar. I listed the drinks, paid the charge by card at the hotel, then was asked to pay again. It felt like I might be charged twice. After some back and forth on WhatsApp, I paid a difference amount. I also needed an invoice for my company. They wouldn’t provide one on site, only promised to email it within 48 hours. Three days later it still hadn’t arrived, so I complained through Booking. The hotel charges everything right when you arrive, while the invoice only comes at checkout, which seems odd. Instead of concentrating on work during and after the trip, I’ve had to spend time dealing with hotel problems. For me, this place is completely unsuitable for business travelers.
