Hotel Rota Imperial

Comfortable.

The hotel staff were very helpful, but the place itself is very old. The beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom had lots of stains, and the shower control was broken. The tube TV barely worked: it showed only one channel and only on half the screen. Breakfast was the bare minimum, just one good bread, and the coffee itself was really poor quality. That was disappointing since you'd expect it to be excellent when they even sell coffee packs at reception. If you're hoping to see the Caparaó waterfalls, this isn't a good base. They're about a 1 hour 30 minute drive away on a very rough road full of potholes. Iúna isn't close to the main waterfalls, and there's nothing to do in town.

The shower and fan both worked well, and breakfast was fair with plenty of variety. The Rota Imperial is an old roadside hotel that works fine as a place to sleep and get breakfast, but the room was very dated. The mattress, pillows, and sheets were worn and uncomfortable. Our double room had just one towel and a small blanket. The TV didn't work, and it wouldn't connect to the hotel's network either. A panel of glass in the shower enclosure was broken, so we had to choose which part of the bathroom to get wet. For a bit more comfort, bring your own bedding and pillows.

The location was good, and the room was spacious. Breakfast was good too, though there was no shower enclosure, so some water got onto the floor. The rest of the hotel was good.
