Hotel Visão

The rooms were good.

We were welcomed warmly when we arrived as a family, but the rest of our five-night stay was full of letdowns. No one serviced the room or took out the trash, and we had to ask reception for toilet paper after finding only half a roll and no spare. We also had to request enough towels for everyone. Breakfast was very basic. The same cake was put out for three days, the cake and cheese bread were made from ready-made mixes, and there wasn't any kind of egg. We've stayed in lots of hotels on our travels, and this was by far the worst. I wouldn't recommend it, and I won't be back.

The biggest issue for me was the price. The nightly rate was in line with hotels of a much higher standard, with clean rooms, better facilities, and a full breakfast. I don't think the experience here justified what they charged. Our room needed more attention. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, which my eight-year-old son spotted, and the toilet was dirty. A simple place is fine with me, but cleanliness is the least I expect. The breakfast was basic, and its small room has about six tables serving three floors of rooms. At busy times, getting out from a table at the back meant asking people at the front to let us through, which was uncomfortable. I've never run into that at a hotel before. There's no garage, so the car stays on the street. The city is quiet, but that could be an issue on a rainy day. I had little contact with the staff, though they were polite and did nothing wrong. We stayed at several places during the trip, so I tried to make a fair comparison. A friendly manner alone didn't make up for the shortcomings in the facilities.

The room was fine, with a comfortable bed, a new hot-and-cold air conditioner, a large minibar, strong internet, and a shower with very hot water. The place is modest, but it was clean and comfortable, and I had no problems during my stay. Reception was helpful, and they had complimentary tea and bergamots. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, and there are restaurants nearby for dinner. The one drawback was the rate, which felt a little high for what was offered at R$220, and there's no parking.
