Pousada Araxá

The pizza was really good, and the restaurant is a pretty, romantic spot on a quiet street with coconut trees out front. It’s inside a Pousada of the same name, and this review is about the restaurant. The wine list was decent, too. But the service was unforgivable: our waiter vanished for around 30 minutes while our glasses sat empty. When we eventually found him and asked for coffee and a dessert menu, he said the kitchen had already closed. He hadn’t warned us it was about to close, so we never had a chance to order. He said he had a long trip to make, but that’s not my problem. Tips are included at most restaurants in Brazil, and this time the tip wasn’t earned.

There were few people around when we visited, so the place felt peaceful and intimate. The staff welcomed us warmly, our room was good, and everything was kept very clean. We also enjoyed the food, and the flowers falling into the pool made it even prettier. I’d recommend it and would happily return.

A cozy room, a great spot in the heart of Jeri, and the friendliest staff. Such a hidden gem.

JERI IS CHANGING! I wouldn't give this woman my money. She sits at the front table having drinks and speaks down to her employees with disdain. That's not the kind of place I want to support here in Jericoacoara.
