Augusta Hotel by Samba

The front desk staff are polite and helpful, and the hotel itself is well built and in a good location. But the service needs more care, especially around the towels and food. The breakfast is served inside a bakery, yet the service there isn't good and there are very few food choices. The towels and bath mats all urgently need replacing.

I stayed here in April 2025 and everything was perfect. When we came back in June 2025, a lot had changed. The room was dusty and the minibar was dirty, with dust and hair on the headboard and dust under the bed. The price had gone up while breakfast had gotten worse. Sadly, I won't stay here again unless things change.

The staff and service are great, and the hotel and rooms are good too. I miss having breakfast right at the hotel. Since it moved to the bakery, the options for guests have felt limited, even though the bakery has plenty to choose from. There's no daily hot dog sauce anymore, and guests can no longer use the sandwich press to make a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. I've also asked several times for the minibar to have something guests can buy, like soda, chocolate, or snacks.

The central location is the one real plus. The rooms were okay, but there was only a thin blanket or a sheet, and when I asked the front desk for another blanket, the receptionist said it would cost 5 reais. It's not about the money. I've never seen that in all my travels around Brazil, and I found it absurd because an extra blanket is a basic need, not a luxury. The hotel was under renovation, so there was a lot of noise and dust. Breakfast had very few choices and a rigid schedule. The breakfast staff were extremely polite and friendly, but the manager and everyone else were rude and mocking. They didn't know how to organize things or how to act ethically, humanely, or politely. There were no utensils, plates, or cups available. They don't even leave water in the minibar, so if I want some, I have to go downstairs to buy it at reception. The rest of the experience left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn't come back.
