I’ve traveled all over the world, and I can’t think of anywhere that would rate this as a four-star hotel. As soon as I entered the room, I smelled artificial perfume, or whatever they use to wash the sheets. I’m highly allergic to it and already have a terrible headache. It’s going to be a long two days. By US standards, this would be a two-star hotel, and for the price there are much better, more modern places. I wish I could switch back to where I stayed last time. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll enjoy these two days.

The prices are reasonable, and I’d put Laguna Praia Hotel on my short list for future visits to Joao Pessoa. It’s not a five-star hotel, but my first stay was good enough that I’d recommend it. The room was immaculate, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast buffet included with the stay had plenty of food and tasted good. Everyone on staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There’s free parking and Wi-Fi. The location is great too. Funny how reviews of good places end up shorter than reviews of bad ones. Remember to tip your housekeeper and bellhop!

So far, things have been great at Laguna Praia hotel. The staff are flexible and very hospitable. I’m Canadian, so there’s a language barrier, but they’re still keen to make sure I get what I need. The food is fantastic, the setting is great, and it’s close to the beach and shops. The pool and recreation facilities are easy to get to, and there are wonderful views of the area.
