Pousada Nativa Lages

A large hotel.

The staff were friendly and courteous, and the service was very good. Still, after a long trip I only stayed one night to rest and didn’t sleep well. The sheets were too small and kept slipping off the mattress. People arriving late also moved furniture around upstairs. Breakfast could at least include butter for the bread, especially since the nightly rate isn’t that cheap.

The owner was extremely rude when we complained after someone knocked at 9 a.m. to ask whether we’d had breakfast. Check-out was at noon, and I should be able to sleep until then and decide whether I want breakfast. That interruption felt like a serious invasion of privacy. The parking description is misleading: it was said to be private and enclosed, but it’s open, and cars get blocked in behind one another. Constant maneuvering made noise from 6 a.m., right outside the bedroom windows, despite the inn’s stated quiet hours of 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. The room itself was unpleasant too. The floor was dirty, there were strands of hair in the bed when we opened the covers, and the room smelled bad. The bedding was very old, and the sink trap leaked, flooding the bathroom floor whenever we turned on the tap. My stay was extremely disappointing. I absolutely don’t recommend it.
