I have mixed feelings about bringing historic architecture from another country into a setting where it feels out of place, especially when Brazil has its own rich architectural heritage to draw on. Still, the hotel itself is lovely and deserves its five stars. The pool, jacuzzi, views, rooms, and service were all great. I did find the mattress a bit too hard for my taste. And breakfast could easily rank among the best you'll ever get at a hotel.

After hiking in the wilderness around Chapada diamantina park, Vila Pugliesi felt like a welcome oasis. Kiki, her family, and the team did everything they could to make my stay relaxing and enjoyable. The place is personal, professional, and comfortable. The thoughtful decor and the wide breakfast selection show how carefully everything has been considered.

The pool and the view are five-star. The building is lovely, even if it feels a little out of place, but there's just too much stuff everywhere. It's also expensive compared with other places in town, and somehow that still doesn't quite capture the place.

We only went to the restaurant, with a reservation, but the hotel itself is a one-of-a-kind place. The restaurant was incredible, with great food, music, service, and outstanding views.
