The place is beautiful, and you can tell someone tends the garden. The walls are freshly painted and very clean, and the inn looks well built. Sadly, the day-to-day care during our stay didn’t match that appearance. We couldn’t use the pool because it was dirty, and the kitchen was in awful shape: the fridge had blood and food scraps in it, and I had to clean the microwave before using it. The inn was empty, with no staff or other guests around, and there was nobody available to guide or help us. I asked for clean bedding because the towels smelled so bad, but couldn’t find anyone. When we left around 9 a.m., we simply shut the door and left the key hanging there since nobody was around for checkout. We’ve been visiting Regência Augusta for 11 years and usually stay somewhere different to try new places. We booked two nights and arrived Friday around 6 p.m. I’d asked about availability, prices, and breakfast. They told us breakfast wasn’t being served, but we still wanted to experience the inn. We also weren’t warned that the road to Regência had a detour, and we were caught off guard. Inns could help guests by explaining the route so they don’t get lost. There was no check-in, and nobody asked for our details or about our car. There’s no garage, so cars are parked on the street. A little frog on the wall jumped onto the bed when we opened the first room. The person seemed unconcerned and wanted us to stay there, so I asked for another room. In that one, I found several cockroaches and a spider in the bathroom and had to ask for insect spray to kill the ones that kept appearing. The doorway was very narrow, with a two-part door. I’m slim and still had to turn sideways to get through; someone a bit bigger might not fit. A huge hanging chair swing on the veranda also got in the way of the room entrance. The room wasn’t clean and smelled bad, and the old bedding had a dirty laundry smell. Smoke from the neighboring yard came in every day, so we couldn’t keep the window open. The plan had been to stay at the inn, use its spaces and swim, but we couldn’t do that. It was a lovely place with breakfast unavailable, but there were too many other things that fell short. I can’t recommend it.

We had such a nice Friday to Sunday stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot. It all felt cozy, and the location was excellent. Breakfast was just right.

The story behind the inn caught my interest right away, and once I saw how simple and cozy it felt in person, I was won over. The owner is lovely and such a sweet person, always thinking about how to make our time in the Vila better with suggestions for entertainment, food, and things to do. Our suite was spotless and smelled fresh. It had a TV, mini fridge, air conditioning, hot shower, comfortable mattress and pillows, and bath and face towels. Breakfast had lots of variety and everything tasted great. The gourmet toast was my favorite, haha. I’m already looking forward to coming back.

Dulce was especially attentive and friendly, always around when needed and making us feel at ease. The rooms were really clean, and the bedding and towels smelled lovely. The suite was comfortable, and breakfast was excellent, especially the sweet little bread I’ve never had anything quite like. My son asked the day before if they had cheese bread, and the next morning they made sure to serve him some while it was still warm. Those small touches really charmed us. We loved it and will be back!

For me, this is the first place I think of when I go to Regência, and a great choice any time of year. Dulce, the owner, is a sweetheart and really attentive. It’s peaceful and restful, with great service, tasty local breakfast foods, and a nice area for kids. Pets are welcome too. The rooms are great, rustic but cozy, and I highly recommend the place. Around the inn is where guests park, as is usual throughout the village. During festive periods they also open for camping. They don’t allow loud music or rowdy barbecues on the property.
