Moriah Maceio Beach Hotel

The breakfast timing was a problem. It starts so late that if you take a tour with a local agency, with pickup around 5:30-6:00 AM, you'll miss it completely. I suspect the hotel does this to cut costs. In my room and in the common areas, many things were broken, including the A/C, which didn't cool properly, and maintenance seemed neglected. For what I paid, I expected better service and amenities. I had a very disappointing stay and wouldn't return.

The staff were attentive and polite, but the hotel itself was really poor. For a 10-day stay, this was a bad experience. My husband and I decided it might work as a stopgap for one night, then leave, but not for a longer visit. Breakfast was very weak. There was nowhere to put our suitcases, so they stayed on the floor. The TV channels didn't work, the curtain was moldy and didn't block the morning light, and there wasn't even a soap holder in the shower. The bedsheets were smaller than the mattress, so we woke up lying directly on it every day. We could hear all kinds of noise from the next room.

The breakfast was very good and had plenty of variety: juices, yogurt, fruit, bread, cakes, coffee, milk, hot chocolate, scrambled eggs, couscous, and pudding. The toilet flush had a problem and wasn't refilling, but once we reported it, they fixed it. The hotel faces the beach, though from our ground-floor room we couldn't see the beach at all. We spent six days here, and it felt more like a place to sleep overnight than somewhere for a longer vacation. The location is inconvenient for shops and other places, so we had to use Uber for lunch, snacks, the mall, and getting around. The mall is very good and about ten minutes away, costing around 16,00 each way. There are kiosks right across from the hotel beach where you can have lunch, but we wanted to explore other places too instead of just doing hotel, beach, and kiosk. In the room, there was nowhere to put clothes, so our suitcases had to stay open on the floor. There was no laundry or drying service, and nowhere in the room to dry wet swimwear. The only storage was a clothes rail that fell a few times when I used it to hang wet clothes. We had just one little makeshift wooden stool beside the bed for things like our glasses and phones at night. Towels are changed every three days, though you can ask for an earlier change along with room cleaning. Even after asking for the room to be cleaned, the bed linen was never changed. The hotel needs to be more functional, since guests need somewhere to put their clothes. I also noticed the rooms weren't consistent: my son and mother had a plaster shelf, and I saw a larger wooden one in another room being cleaned, but our room had neither. If I return to Maceió, I definitely won't stay here again.
