Pousada Ilha Bela

The location is easily the best part, very close to the beach. The rest of the hotel felt poorly maintained and unhygienic, with a worn-out mattress and shabby sheets. When we arrived at the flat there were no towels or anything like that. We asked for one and got an old, yellowed towel with fraying along the edges. The breakfast area is tiny, like a matchbox. Luckily, breakfast wasn't included in our stay.

The staff at Pousada Ilhabela de Pajuçara are lovely, and the service is excellent. My family and I have stayed at pousada Ilha bela twice now, and both times it felt peaceful. We drove there and left the car parked out front the whole time without anyone touching it. This time we had a room with breakfast, a minibar, TV, air conditioning, and an ensuite bathroom. The shower pressure was disappointing, and breakfast started a little late. It's usually served from 7:00 to 9:00, but it was already past 7:00 before it was set out.

The room was small, with a cramped bathroom and an old minibar, and the bed was hard. I also waited 20 minutes for towels. The place looked nothing like the photos. I wouldn't stay there again.

I checked in at 23:30 on 23/02, exhausted and hoping to shower and sleep. The shower only ran cold, and later I woke up with insects crawling over me and the bed. When I turned on the light, I found water all over the floor from the air conditioner leaking. I asked to change rooms, but the other one had the same problem. Even R$ 50,00 a night would be too much. Breakfast is very limited and costs R$ 20,00. I can't recommend this terrible pousada.
