Boutique Hotel Casa Teatro

The location is great, and breakfast was pretty tasty. The staff were amazing. Pedro the manager was especially helpful and attentive, advising us before we arrived about what to do in Manaus and tours around the Amazon and nearby area. He helped us throughout, before and during our stay. The rooms are very compact, and the toilet has no privacy because it's all glass and there's no door. It can get a little noisy, but I slept with my usual earplugs, so it didn't really bother me.

Great location, helpful staff, and a good price at around €7 pppn. It was cheaper to book in person than through Booking. But this is a bad hotel, avoid it if you can. The air conditioning is very old and basically can't cool the rooms, which aren't sealed well, so hot air gets in. The rooms are old and not very clean, and need renovation. They didn't provide towels at first, so I had to ask, and the bed linen felt unhygienic. It's next to loud bars with little sound insulation, so don't expect a quiet night.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the WiFi worked well, but the stay still felt like poor value for the price. The room was cramped and dirty, with a lumpy, dipped mattress and what looked like snot on the sheet, which left me unsure about the cleanliness. The shower and toilet were inside the room, so there was no privacy, and that setup seemed unnecessary. There weren't enough plug sockets either. Breakfast was very basic, left out without temperature control, and flies were around. The photos also seemed old or presented in a more flattering way.

The room was so tiny that with our luggage inside, we could barely fit. It felt old and dirty, the beds were uncomfortable, the shower had no pressure, and our door handle broke right away. There wasn't a proper bathroom door, either. Across the street, a bar played loud music until 3 a.m.; the windows were so poor it sounded as if they were open. The place was overpriced, and the staff didn't speak English. I wouldn't stay here, and would give zero stars if I could.
