Hotel Ideal

A friendly warning: I wouldn't bring family here. You can get a stay for as little as R$ 49,00, and the room comes with a loud hurricane-style fan like the ones used in stores, plus a basic spout shower with water so cold it seems like it comes from a well. For a warm or hot shower, you have to pay another R$ 30 for a “complete” room, which includes air conditioning and an electric shower, and supposedly a mini-fridge too. Breakfast was poor, with no variation during the week. You have to request fresh sheets, pillowcases, and towels, since they rarely change them during the week. The internet was the one bright spot, it didn't disconnect once during my 10 days there. It's fine if you're traveling alone, have modest expectations, and just need to stay one night.

For a quick stop or an emergency, the central location works, and nights are very quiet. Breakfast is plain but fine for this kind of hotel. The rest of my first stay was rough: the bathroom was dirty and its fixtures were damaged, the beds were broken, the sheets looked very worn, and there was no hot water. Housekeeping was poor, no complimentary water was offered on arrival, and seeing the receptionist eating lunch in the lobby was unpleasant. The place is very basic and badly needs repairs and renovation.

A staff member working overnight gave me incorrect information, and I ended up paying a lot because of it. There are signs at the hotel promising reimbursement, but they aren't being honored. I explained the situation and pointed it out, yet the sign will still be there for the next person. A staff member also said the nearby area isn't safe, and the streets around the hotel have a strong smell.

The breakfast was really good, and the location is great too!
