Hotel Magnifico

The staff treated us really well, and the hotel is in a great location. Our room was clean and didn’t smell musty. The bathroom was tiny, though. Showering meant standing almost on top of the sink, and everything got wet. Only one outlet worked.

The location is the one good thing, very close to the theater, though the street feels a little deserted at night. The reception area is more presentable, which made the state of the room disappointing. There’s no breakfast, the Wi-Fi doesn’t work, and there’s no electric shower. Water pressure is low and the jets point in odd directions, with only a few hitting you. The toilet leaks. There’s marble around the bed, which I found uncomfortable, and the old furniture looks like it could fall over. The air conditioning works, and the room was reasonably clean. For the nightly rate, I’d look for somewhere with breakfast and a hot shower.

We stayed one night in a room for three. The bathroom had no curtain or shower enclosure to keep water away from the toilet and sink, so it turned into a pool when we showered. The shower also sprayed water out the side, which made the whole thing chaotic. The air conditioning was too weak to cool the room. Plastic sheeting under the bed sheets made the beds even hotter, and we sweated all night.

We were welcomed warmly, and the staff were very attentive. It felt like a family kind of place.
