Local Hostel Manaus

I stayed five nights. The hostel is okay overall, but the price feels steep for a shared room where the shower has no hot water. The lack of other reasonably priced hostels nearby also means this place seems to have a monopoly. The trouble started on checkout day. I arrived at 1:00 PM instead of 12:00 AM, and got a look like I’d done something criminal. I went upstairs to pack, but an employee came with me and told me to take all my things to reception and pack them on the floor there. She watched for almost ten minutes while I put everything back in my backpack. It was very uncomfortable. Before I left, she also charged me an extra daily-use fee because I was an hour past the official checkout time. A few days later, after traveling around the area, I came back to wait somewhere enclosed and sheltered until my early-morning flight. At 22:30, the same employee told me to leave. I asked if I could stay a few more minutes for the Uber I’d ordered to arrive, but she refused and sent me out onto the street. This staff member showed no flexibility and created unpleasant situations.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. It’s a good place to stay in Manaus. Breakfast was the one letdown, far too expensive for what you get. You’re better off eating out.

The location is excellent, just one block from Teatro, and the staff were very helpful. Reception is open around the clock, and the gate is kept locked with reception staff on hand. The street felt a little dodgy, though we had no problems while we were there. We stayed three nights. The room was clean and looked after well. The bathroom was great too, except for mold covering the ceiling, which didn’t smell.

Good choice. The team was nice, the beers tasty, and the breakfast buffet was generous. 👌
