Flat Residence Maragogi

Wonderful! I could see myself living here.

This is an apartment complex, and the staff are very helpful. I imagine each unit has its own issues. In ours, the bedroom air conditioner was very noisy, and the windows vibrated, so we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. It is very close to the beach, but that beach is the worst one in the area. A river about 300 meters away runs into the sea, so the first 100 meters of water are cold, murky river water. You can see the turquoise sea farther out from shore. If you’re looking for the “Brazilian Caribbean,” this isn’t the place; you need to stay around Xareu beach. It’s also not possible to rent a car in Maragogi, so getting to the nicer beaches means taking Uber or walking 2 to 5 km each way. Be careful at high tide, since crossing the river then becomes impossible.

The neighborhood felt safe, with a small grocery store nearby and the seaside avenue full of restaurants. The place was very pleasant and less than 100 meters from the beach. Still, some details need more attention: the doors and windows didn’t close properly, some kitchen utensils were old or broken, and the TV was under 30 inches and only got one free-to-air channel.

We came back several times in the early hours and had no problems; it’s a very quiet place. The apartment was clean and really well equipped, close to both the beach and Maragogi’s main street. A great place to stay, and I recommend it!
