Pousada Alto Do Cruzeiro

The sea and beach views are lovely, and you can come by for pictures even if you stay elsewhere. But don’t assume the room prices mean you’re getting a good deal. My room felt more basic than a prison cell, with an old-style TV that had only five channels and very few bathroom amenities. The front-desk service was awful. They were nice at check-in, then stopped caring about what I needed; nothing was their problem. Breakfast, served from 7:30 to 9:30, was the one good part of the morning: plenty of choice and fresh food. There’s no other restaurant on site. The pool is small, most of the umbrella seats were broken, and there’s no jacuzzi unless you pay for a private one. The walk to the beach is about 700 meters, or eight minutes, but there’s a steep hill that takes real effort to go down and especially back up. This place isn’t friendly for people with disabilities. Staff brushed off complaints, and it felt like they were there just for the pay, without providing other service. I’d choose another hotel; paying a little more would be well worth it.
