For anyone looking to unwind, this place is perfect. If you want more activity, the popular spots are still accessible by your own vehicle, quad bike, jardineira, or taxi. The only downside was leaving with such a huge sense of longing. We had six wonderful days here in January 2025, in a one-of-a-kind little paradise between the sea in front and river behind. It’s a cozy pousada for anyone wanting peace and time in nature. The accommodation was great, with a mini fridge, air conditioning, electric shower, TV, and wi-fi. Everything was thoughtfully taken care of, especially breakfast. The owners, Marone and Juliana, and d. Sônia gave us personal attention. It felt like being at home.

This was my second stay, and somehow an already good place has gotten even better. The location is fantastic. You can swim in the sea and Rio Carapitangui right in the pousada’s “backyard.” If you have a vehicle, I strongly recommend a quad bike, and it’s only five minutes from Barra Grande’s center. The slightly brackish water from the taps and shower that I remember from before has been fixed, and the water is fresh now. Dona Sônia makes a fantastic breakfast. We had to ask her for a few tips because it’s just that good. I overate every day I was there! I also have to mention how warmly Dona Sônia, Marone, and the family welcomed us. They’re a big reason to keep coming back. This is our favorite little place!

The place has such a peaceful feeling, and everyone was very attentive and polite. Sr. Marrone and his wife gave us a lovely welcome, and Dona Sônia prepared breakfast with such care every day. We’ll definitely be back many times.

The bedding was dirty and in poor condition, the minibar wouldn’t cool, and the air conditioner dripped onto my head. There was no reception desk to ask for help. I felt completely disrespected here. The place is very, very far away, and nobody mentioned that beforehand. A taxi from central Barra Grande costs 50 reais (2024). The only nearby restaurant is expensive and only open during the day. They don’t explain any of this before you book, and they won’t refund you, leaving you stuck with no recourse. At the end of my trip they also left me without the reservation I’d paid for more than 15 days earlier, and refunded me only two days later. If you’re a woman traveling alone, don’t stay at this pousada. Try Meu Sossego instead, it’s well located and cared for by women, so you won’t be isolated and exposed. And be careful about the talk of a room “upgrade.” It may just be talk. If you booked a room, insist on getting that room.
