The room was spacious and cozy, the bed unforgettable, and the breakfast was the best we’ve ever tasted anywhere. We were welcomed with warmth, kindness, and love the whole time. The location is perfect too, near the village and some great local restaurants. It’s hard to find a better place to stay in maraú.

So laid-back, with birds singing and monkeys dropping by now and then. The staff and breakfast were the best. And the name is great too: if you don’t know who Aqualtune was, I’d look her up. 😉

The pool was great, the rooms were very clean, and the towels were changed daily. I also want to praise Iza and Rô, who were kind, did everything they could to please guests, and made a divine breakfast. Kauê was an excellent receptionist and always tried to help. The area is safe and quiet, and the pousada is about 400 m from Barra Grande’s center and the pier. We visited in the low season. When we arrived, only Iza, the housekeeper, was there to welcome us because the receptionist had the day off. The room I’d chosen had a problem with its air conditioning, and it took a while to get it sorted. When I contacted the owner, Ângelo, on WhatsApp, he was rude and said I’d received an upgrade and hadn’t thanked him, even though I was trying to resolve the AC issue. That caused some stress. One thing they should improve is providing towels for outings. Ângelo told us the hotel didn’t offer them because bars and restaurants did, but that isn’t true. Don’t count on getting a towel for excursions, bring one from home. During my stay, staff and reception were available only until 8 pm, and there were no employees at the hotel after that.

The garden was a lovely, well-kept retreat, and the pool was perfect for unwinding after a beach day. My sister and I stayed at Pousada Aqualtune in October and had a wonderful experience. Maria handled the booking and was attentive and quick to respond. The pousada feels cozy and thoughtfully maintained, especially the cleanliness of the suite and shared spaces. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Breakfast on the veranda was wonderful, with quality ingredients and lots of care: sweet and savory choices, fresh juices, fruit, breads, homemade cakes, jams, and a menu we could personalize. They also served cake with coffee or tea in the afternoon and offered mineral water at no charge. It’s well located on a quiet street close to local shops. Thanks to Cristian and Carol for making us feel welcome, for the kind conversations and helpful tips, and to the cleaning and kitchen teams for being so kind and helpful. I highly recommend this pousada and would choose it again on my next trip to Barra Grande.

We’d definitely come back to Pousada Aqualtune. The friendly service, peaceful atmosphere, and the way everyone made us feel at home were wonderful. Cris welcomed us with a smile and walked us through local points of interest and beaches to explore. She kept checking that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Delma looked after us in the mornings and made breakfast feel like a treat, with different homemade cakes and pastries each day, fresh juices, and plenty of hot choices like eggs, tapioca, and crepes. Maria was also very helpful before we booked. She sent all the information we needed, including details about quad bike rentals and excursions, which made planning much easier. We recommend the pousada wholeheartedly. Joana & Diego
