Pousada Jardim Monte Verde

Great.

There were birds, squirrels, and other little animals around the inn, and it was so calm and quiet that we really managed to rest. The chalé marter 01 was clean, smelled nice, and everything worked perfectly, from the showers and hydro to the electronics. The fireplace was great, although the wood was so thick we had trouble lighting it at first. We got it going in the end. Breakfast was excellent and complete, and the service was very good. The outdoor areas were in great shape, though the pool ladder could use some work. It came loose as I was getting out, and I ended up with a big purple bruise on my leg. I told the staff, and they said they would fix it. One improvement would be having plain black coffee available during the day, even if it costs extra.

I love taking a quick break from SP, and I usually look for intimate places with good reviews. At the end of my vacation, I picked a town I already knew and an inn with an affordable price. Opening the chalet door was a real surprise: it was spacious, beautifully decorated, and the living room and sitting room made me feel embraced. The bedroom was adorable, and everything was clean and well organized. Breakfast was a spectacle, with the pamonha and little pastries as highlights. The grounds were beautifully cared for, with lots of birds and a pair of squirrels we made friends with. There was a nice pool, a clean sauna, and cold beer. The staff were so attentive, too. I struggled to light the fireplace, and the receptionist, sorry I can’t remember his name, was really kind and brought us several fire starters. The whole place exceeded our expectations.

If you want somewhere quiet, cozy, intimate, and surrounded by nature, I recommend this inn. It’s around a 5 to 10 minute drive from the center. I stayed in chalé Garden 5, with a wonderful view of the inn and the natural surroundings. The room had a fireplace, minibar, air conditioning, and a shower with hot and cold settings. One drawback was that the refrigerator was stocked with the inn’s water, soda, and beer, leaving little room for our own drinks, and we weren’t allowed to remove their items. Breakfast had lots of delicious choices, including pamonha, pastries, queijadinha, and cheese bread. Paola and Carla were welcoming and attentive.
