Sirius Beach Hotel

My son and I really liked the basic but delicious breakfast. The reception is staffed around the clock, and the receptionists and other employees were all attentive and polite. We did have a couple of room problems: the shower leaked, and the door lock didn’t secure the door completely. The view directly in front of the hotel is awful because of the bars, though there are wonderful beaches a little farther along. There are also some great bars and restaurants. The beachfront around the hotel gets quieter around 19:00, and there isn’t much police patrol nearby. I only saw more farther along by Praia dos Artistas. All in all, I had a good experience, and there isn’t much else I can complain about.

We arrived a little after 20:00 and just needed somewhere to rest, but the room was noisy. Street sounds came in, and the thin wall let us hear the TV next door. That wasn’t too bothersome at first. Then the hotel had several power cuts, and the air conditioner kept switching on and off without cooling the room. Opening the window didn’t help. My husband asked reception if we could move, but they said the only available room had the same air conditioning problem and there was nothing they could do. We ended up leaving around 23:30 to find another hotel where we could sleep comfortably without the heat. We spent only three hours there. Reception saw us leave because of the room issue, but they hadn’t even replied to the message I sent with our check-in arrival time. You can imagine whether we got an apology for all that trouble.

Great value for the money. The room was cozy, the bedding and towels were new and bright white, the air conditioning cooled well, and the bathroom was very good. Breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of choices. The natural pools are right on the sand and excellent for kids, and the hotel also has separate pools for children and adults.

Maybe it’s worth it for the price, but this is an old hotel with old rooms. The pool area is very noisy, and the cleanliness seemed a bit questionable. The location also felt a little questionable for families, though it seems okay for a single person or a couple.
